Nursing Student Passes Away in Boyfriend’s Room Due to Asthma (Video)

An autopsy has confirmed that Gifty Okyere, a 28-year-old final-year nursing student at Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College, tragically died from an acute asthma attack in her boyfriend’s room, effectively ruling out any foul play.
According to a report, preliminary accounts reveal that Okyere began experiencing severe breathing difficulties while in the company of her boyfriend, Edmond Ayomah, on May 27, 2025. Despite attempts to assist her, she lost consciousness before emergency services could arrive.
Following the incident, Ayomah voluntarily turned himself in to local police and has been fully cooperative throughout the investigation.
The Ghana Police Service in Jinjini confirmed that a comprehensive autopsy conducted by the regional pathologist explicitly stated that Okyere’s death was due to an acute asthma attack, with no indications of physical trauma or poisoning.
Edmond Ayomah, who had been under investigation, remains uncharged and has reportedly returned to his family as the official inquiries near completion.
The confirmation of a natural cause of death has alleviated initial concerns regarding foul play, although the tragedy continues to resonate deeply within the community of Jinjini and beyond.

Gifty Okyere, remembered as a promising young woman, is set to be laid to rest, with many mourning the loss of a life that was tragically cut short.
This case has attracted significant attention since the initial reports surfaced, with earlier speculations suggesting that Gifty may have died from complications related to an attempted abortion in her boyfriend’s room.
