My son’s mouth smells — Ghanaian father reveals

An elderly man appeared on the MFK on Lawson Afisem’s show, revealing the heartbreaking story of his son’s struggle with chronic halitosis.
Speaking to MFK, the man shared that he first noticed an unpleasant odour from his son’s mouth when the boy was just four years old. At the time, he and his family dismissed it as a minor issue, assuming it would go away on its own.
However, as the boy grew older, the condition only worsened. The father explained that despite trying various remedies, including traditional herbal treatments, the situation has become more severe over time. Each attempt at a cure seems to have little or no positive effect.
Now devastated and financially drained, the man confessed that he had spent nearly all his money seeking a solution for his son. His efforts have left him bankrupt, yet his son continues to suffer.
He made a heartfelt appeal to well-meaning Ghanaians and the general public, asking for assistance to help his son find a proper medical diagnosis and treatment. According to him, his son is an academically gifted student with great potential, but the persistent issue of bad breath is affecting his confidence and limiting his opportunities.
“This condition is not just a health issue — it’s affecting his entire life. He’s a brilliant child, but people avoid him. I’m pleading with anyone who can help us. My son deserves a chance,” the father said, visibly emotional.
He hopes that with the support of compassionate individuals or medical professionals, his son will one day live a normal life free from embarrassment and stigma.
