Grammy Awards: Nominations Include Stonebwoy, Rocky Dawuni, and MOG Music

Grammy Awards Nominations Include Stonebwoy, Rocky Dawuni, and MOG Music

The anticipation for the 2024 Grammy Awards is high, and three Ghanaian musicians have decided to take a bold step by submitting their projects for potential nominations in various categories.

Stonebwoy, a reggae dancehall artist, has garnered several awards due to his work on other people’s projects. Rocky Dawuni, a reggae and roots performer, has been nominated for two Grammys, and MOG is a gospel vocalist who is relatively new to the scene.

Being in the running for a Grammy doesn’t guarantee a nomination, nor is it a sign of recognition from the Academy. It’s simply a step in the submission process of your work, to be considered for a possible nod.

On Friday, 28 April, Stonebwoy released his 5th Dimension album which has acquired a lot of recognition around the globe, registering millions of streams on digital platforms. This has made him eligible for a nomination.

This Grammy nominee’s “5th Dimension” demonstrates their capacity to fusing multiple genres and cultures musically without any seams.

Stonebwoy was also given thought for selection in the Best Global Music Album, Best Reggae Album and Best African Music Performance categories, with the collaboration of Manodzi along with Angelique Kidjo, who is known for her multiple Grammy Award wins.

Rocky Dawuni, having been nominated for two Grammy Awards, is now in the running with his album ‘Shade Tree’. He is being taken into consideration for the Best Global Music Category. As he has been nominated multiple times, many have high expectations of him.

MOG Music is in the running for a potential nomination with their recently released album, ‘Koinonia phase 2’. He is excited about the prospect of being nominated for Best Gospel Album, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist.

It is noteworthy that MOG Music is the first Ghanaian gospel artist to be accepted into the Recording Academy of the Grammy Awards.

We send our best wishes to them and hope they will be nominated and potentially be the recipients of Ghana’s inaugural Grammy award.
