DVLA Chief Issues Stern Warning: Instant 2500 Cedis Fine for Illegal Number Plates

The Ashanti Regional Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr. Jerry E. Aflabo, has issued a strong warning to the public regarding the unauthorized creation of vehicle number plates.
In an interview with Kwame Tanko on Lawson FM, Mr. Aflabo highlighted the growing issue of drivers and vehicle owners crafting their own number plates without the DVLA’s approval. He emphasized that the only legitimate way to obtain a number plate is through the DVLA, and any alternative methods are considered illegal. Those caught engaging in this practice face strict penalties.
Mr. Aflabo mentioned that a dedicated taskforce has been assigned to address this issue and take action against offenders. He revealed that individuals caught manufacturing or using unauthorized number plates will face an immediate fine of 2500 Cedis.
“This measure is crucial to maintain the integrity of our licensing system,” Mr. Aflabo stated. He further expressed concern over the prevalence of unauthorized number plates being used without the DVLA’s knowledge. “I urge everyone to comply; if our taskforce catches you, the penalty will be 2500 Cedis. If you are caught repeatedly, you will incur this fine daily.”
This initiative aims to ensure that all vehicle registration processes remain transparent and regulated under the DVLA’s guidelines.
