President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has issued a strong warning to individuals talking down of the Ghanaian cedi depreciation.
The president made this statement in a national address on 30th October 2022, he claimed the speculations and ongoing rumors in the country are destructive to the cedi.
He said “Fellow Ghanaians, as the French would say, l’argent n’aime pas le bruit, to wit, money does not like noise, ‘sika mpɛ dede’. Where there is chaos, where there is noise, where there is unrest, you will not find the money. “Money doesn’t like noise. If you talk down your currency, it will go down, if you allow others to talk down your currency it will go down,”.
He promised that the government will do all possible to correct the current situation and prevent future depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi.
