It will be recalled Ursula Owusu-Ekuful in a press conference announced that the new deadline for ending the SIM registration will be September 30, 2022.

She also stated interestingly that Ghanaians who haven’t registered by August ending will suffer certain penalties.

This is to ensure that many don’t wait till September to form long queues and register.

The Minister mentioned that Ghanaians who fail to link and register SIMs by August ending will be barred from receiving certain services of the Telco.

The services include Voice and Data Services. Again, the minister boldly mentioned that it will very expensive to use unregistered Sims. It is however difficult to understand what expensive in this context will mean.

It is for that reason why Ken Ashigbey boldly declared that effective this week or next week, all those who have not registered their SIM cards yet will be barred from making and receiving calls.

He explained that whenever such people make the calls, they will be notified to register their SIM cards before their calls will be able and made to go through.

“I am sure in the coming days we are going to see some measures as the Minister had said which include the prevention of people who have not registered their SIM cards from making calls for some time.
