Another “deadly” accident has been reported in Ghana’s Central Region, according to the most recent reports.
A Toyota Hiace bus and a DAF trailer were both involved in the collision.
“The DAF trailer, which was traveling towards Takoradi in the Western Region, was completely filled with cement bags; whereas the Toyota Hiace, carrying people, was also heading to Kumasi from Takoradi,” a witness report from the accident scene said.
The trailer; according to the eyewitness report, alleged, “overtook a vehicle ahead of it in a poor visibility area, due to smoke from a burning bush, and as a result, run into the Toyota Hiace bus”.
The police report also revealed that ‘the 12 persons died when a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number WR 1347- 17, collided head-on with a DAF Truck with registration number GM 2570-12″.
The Fire Service team claims that after a protracted search for survivors, “Only one living passenger was found. The DAF truck driver’s whereabouts are still unknown at this time “.
